Like us, they recognise the vital role in maintaining good ocular and general health that regular eye examinations play. Our fully qualified Registered Optometrists are trained and experienced in recognising many potentially damaging conditions including:

Diabetes

Glaucoma

Cataract

Hypertension

Lazy eyes & squints

Macular Degeneration

Brain Tumours

Retinal Detachment

Just as with most medical conditions early recognition and management, often liaising with other health care professionals, is crucial and much of the vision loss in the developed world is entirely preventable.

The recommended minimum period between eye examinations is two years, although some people, for example growing children, are advised to have more regular eye examinations.

Although many people now pay for their eye examination, the National Health Service provides funding for two thirds of the UK population entitling them to regular eye examinations free of charge. Groups entitled to free eye examinations include:

  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Young people between the ages of 16 and 19 in full time education
  • People over 60 years of age
  • People with diabetes
  • People with glaucoma
  • People over 40 with a first generation, family history of glaucoma
  • People in receipt of certain income based benefits

In addition, our Optometrists will establish the most suitable prescription for your visiual comfort and accuracy. We will clearly explain the results of your eye examination, provide a copy of the prescription, and recommend a change of prescription only where we feel you will benefit from that change.

We also provide full contact lens care and support.
