About JBOpticians
Our founder, John Biddle, is a fully qualified Dispensing Optician, registered with the General Optical Council.
He began the business in March, 1972, and within six months, the High Street, Madeley, Telford practice opened.
He went on to open in Market Street, Wellington, also in Telford and subsequently acquired a further two long-established branches due to retirement, namely Bernard Whittingham in Bridgnorth, and Stephen Ellerker in Shrewsbury – and the company retains its personal approach.
Today, the Madeley branch is also our head office from where John now oversees the whole operation.
It is very much a family concern – John’s wife, Helen, joined in 1992 as company secretary, and works closely with John at the Madeley branch.
Optometrists, Jane Speak and Julian Benton, have each been with them for more than 12 years, providing clinical excellence and the important continuity of seeing the same person again.
In fact, we are very proud of our staff retention record - we currently employ 16 members of staff, many of whom have been with us for quite a number of years, and we feel this is important in helping us to provide a more friendly and personal service. Understanding your needs and wants is our special skill.
We demand high standards from all those associated with the business, and have a strong belief in our ethos, which essentially focuses on choice, quality and value, trust and dependability,embraced by excellent customer service.
